Well, doesn’t time go
quickly when you’re having fun? Here we are with the first month gone and
what a first month it’s been. I’ve nearly lost the chain of office
(thankfully found but of course at great expense to me), I’ve had to change
a number of previously announced dates due to clashes, and the list goes on.
But is has been fun!!!!!
I’m sure you’ll be also
pleased to know that despite his best efforts Sergeant Euan did not persuade
me to ski down the steepest slope at Perisher Valley on the weekend. In fact
we both returned safe and sound (obviously) with no falls at all and no
broken bones. Skiing is a great sport, both for the physical activity and
the après ski activity. There can be no better place to sip a good red wine
than in good company, in front of an open log fire looking out the window at
beautiful snow covered mountains. Roll on next year; perhaps we might be
able to have a Strathfield ski weekend in the snow. And yes, I even gave up
my bike riding for skiing, at least this weekend anyway.
Thanks to Keith Byrn
for an excellent first "job talk", the first of many and to Lillian Stockall
for her excellent talk on new initiatives in care for the aged. I think the
general comment around the club afterwards was that getting older might not
be so bad if we had Lillian and her team looking after us.
District directories
will be (finally) handed out this week. Progress is also being made on our
events calendar, which should be out soon.
Anyway that’s enough
for me, I’m personally hoping for a quiet week ahead
Hope those seeds you
have all sown are sprouting, new members, new ideas and a commitment to a
fun Rotary year.
Pres Steve.
