Hard to believe
we are already into the second month of the year.
Do you realise,
and I’m sure you do, that our golf day is now only two weeks away, the
fundraiser only five and the District conference six weeks.
It’s getting very
busy very quickly.
This week I really
need some input and answers from club members ……. please!
Firstly, on
whether we are prepared to host the districts exchange students (about 15)
over the conference weekend (this is only for sleeping on the Friday and
Saturday nights, district will organise all activities during the day and
evening Sat. and Sun.)
Secondly, I also
need to know how many Rotarians and partners will be attending the
conference itself. Yes I know its at Homebush, we don’t have the opportunity
to have a weekend away as we usually do, BUT it is close and we can be more
flexible on what sessions we go to, and we do save some money on
accommodation I guess.
On international
service (GSE) issues and the upcoming arrival of the Scottish team I wish to
confirm that the meeting of March 12th will be transferred to our fundraiser
night of the 14th March.
To replace this
effectively lost meeting an optional for (Strathfield members) combined
Concord, Strathfield and Burwood meeting will be held at Burwood RSL on
Monday March 17th for the GSE presentation, and we will have a normal
meeting on Wed March 19th to wrap up the fundraiser and finalise the
conference BBQ issues.
While this club
is a big supporter of GSE, considering our very active program I believe
this is the most appropriate course. I do hope however that many members
will join me at Burwood on March 19th for I hope an excellent presentation
from the Scottish team.
District (through
Parramatta Club) have also urgently requested six (6) photo’s of Strathfield
club in action for the conference photo spread. This is probably a task for
Rod "Rocket" McDougall.
The District
Governor’s newsletter will also profile Strathfield Club this month. I need
a Rotarian PLEASE ! with some history in the club (more than my 4 meagre
years) to write 2 or 3 paragraphs on our history and most important or
effective projects. Volunteers please tonite !!!!!
On a final note
congratulations to stand in Sergeant at arms Rod McDougall for the next
three weeks while Euan is away. Knowing how difficult it is for Rod to make
a decision (on almost anything, not just bikes) we may be lucky if he can
make his mind up who to fine. I bet he gets me for this though.
That’s all this
week folks, I hope our partners enjoy the ambience and food of our new venue
Steve.
