Steve’s Snippets 3 July 2002
Brothers and sisters!!! Oh ah sorry about that. I mean fellow Rotarians (I guess I’m still getting over changeover.) Welcome to the new rotary 2002-2003 year with that wonderful theme of "Sow the seeds of love" I hope the seeds given to you at changeover will provide many beautiful flowers and enrich your gardens.
Tonite’s meeting being the first of the New Year will be a club assembly. While my Directors will give an overview of their portfolios the main aim of this assembly will be to get feedback from you.
Issues I intend canvassing are membership requirements and standards, the level of fundraising activity we should undertake, the Rotary programs we should be involved in, and the fun fellowship activities you would like to be involved in during the year. Any reasonable properly put question will be answered and any input or suggestion carefully considered. This will be an interactive session and I hope constructive for the club.
A visitor to the club this evening will be Mary Romanos, our successful candidate for the 2003 GSES team (which will be leaving early, in late September 2002) to Scotland under the leadership of President Allan Ezzy of Holroyd. Mary will represent Strathfield well and has our best wishes. She will give a short address about herself and hopefully learn a little of how Rotary operates in Strathfield.
Again, congratulations to PP Roger, our new PHF’s Allan Petersen and Allan Taylor, and the outgoing board for the work undertaken during the last rotary Year. Strathfield rotary is in good shape because of your efforts.
By the time this is published I will have represented Strathfield at Burwood’s changeover. I’ll let you know if it was as "entertaining" as ours. Next Saturday Denise and I, The Croft’s, Pres elect Keith Stockall and PP Roger will be present at the District changeover at St Ignatius College at Lane Cove, and I’ll report on that event next week.
Anyway, I think this is enough for my first piece, but remember to "sow those seeds of Love"
