After a number of
"special" nights at our club, a friendly armchair traveller mood
prevailed at last week's meeting as Jan and Bob Templeman
entertained us with a very interesting talk and slideshow on
their recent travels to Antarctica.
The photography was
excellent and through their description of the trip we gained an
insight into how they felt about the area and the effect that
the wildlife and frozen wilderness had on them personally. It
was good to see a number of partners at the meeting. Please see
Peter Douglas's very detailed coverage elsewhere in the
bulletin.
September 18-24 is NSW
Rotary Week and an opportunity for clubs to participate in the
lifting of Rotary's profile. Suggestions are welcome from
members on opportunities to promote Rotary and the club. Please
see Anuradah Kamkolkar or me.
Congratulations to Keith
Byrn and Allan Teale on the excellent progress that they have
made, in a very short time, on implementing the RYDA program in
our area. A launch is planned in November and Keith advises that
the police commissioner, our local members and several sponsors
are all keen to share in the exposure.
Well fellows, the
bulletin that you are currently reading could well become a
collectors item! Despite the personal requests that Brian
Johnson and I have made to many, many members, we have been
unsuccessful in tempting someone to step forward to take on the
role of editor, replacing Angelo Franco. After well over two
years in the job, Angelo is retiring. My personal thanks to him
for continuing in the role while we sought a replacement.
Without an editor there can be no bulletin, so, sadly, this may
be the last issue for a while. I will continue with my column
which will appear on the web. If you are considering taking on
the role, even for a short while, a reminder that only basic
computer skills are required..
