I trust
all members and their families enjoyed a happy Christmas / New
Year break - welcome back.
Where have all the bowlers gone? Unfortunately, it was necessary
to cancel the bowls evening this year due to lack of support. Good
fellowship resulted nevertheless, thanks to Peter Harries who
organised a restaurant evening, the second of two successful
dinners arranged by him. Watch the bulletin for more of the same.
For those who may have missed the news, Brian and Janette Johnson
made the trip to Forbes before Christmas to present our $10,000
donation to the Salvation Army. They were exceptionally well
received by both the Salvos and the local Rotary club – most
importantly, the funds were available to those in need in time for
Christmas.
The RYLA conference has concluded for this year with our club
sponsoring three bright young people in leadership training,
including Connie Galletta's nephew. They will address the club on
21 February.
The Trish MS Golf Day is just around the corner and will be held
Thursday 15 February. The Wednesday Rotary meeting will transfer
to the Thursday. Members can give their support to Niall King and
his team for this very worthwhile fundraiser by attending the
golf, or the dinner following, or purchasing a ticket in the
raffle (with $4,000 in prizes on offer) - or all of the above!
Tony Lanzafame has planning for this year's youth achievement
awards well in hand. To be held in conjunction with Strathfield
Council, applications close 4 April.
Spare a thought for your hardworking district conference
committee. Bert Houston and his team have an excellent event
planned. If you have not yet registered, please do so as soon as
possible. Last minute reservations make life unnecessarily
difficult for the team, venue staff and District Treasurer Keith
Stockall!.
Club dues are now due. Please see my letter to all members.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
