What a conference! A magnificent venue, an innovative program with
excellent speakers, outstanding entertainment and superb dining.
... all pulled together with some great Strathfield Rotary
teamwork.
Bert Houston and the conference team are basking in the glow of
much high praise. There does not seem to be any doubt that the bar
was raised and that our club delivered "the best 9690 conference
ever". This shows what we can do if members get involved! Those
who were unable to be there missed a unique experience.
Special congratulations to Megan Tarrant whose conference raffle
raised sufficient funds to enable the purchase of two disaster
relief shelter boxes.
Conference 2008 will be hosted by Central Blue Mountains Rotary
and will be held in Mudgee, 4 6 April 2008, with a Carnivale
theme. Following their request, we will be assisting as they plan
the event.
We welcomed the North Carolina Group Study Exchange (GSE) team
last week, together with all the members of Ted Ingall's outgoing
team, who visited North Carolina in 1975! It was a delight to hear
from both teams as they reflected on the benefits of this great
Rotary International program.
Bradley Ayres is still seeking assistance in organising the Model
United Nation Assembly (MUNA) debates. Please lend your support.
And David Croft would welcome suggestions from members for a
speaker at our Anzac Day breakfast at Cape Cabarita. A reminder
that our meeting for 25 April is cancelled.
This week we welcome Carol and Roy Langsford for the presentation
of the funds from the golf day fundraiser organised by Niall King.
Bert Houston will give us a conference report, with some insights
for those who were not able to attend – or were there, but too
busy working!
Professor Judy Lumby, Executive Director, The College of Nursing
and noted author and clinical care specialist will be our special
guest speaker.
Then, after a very hectic March, we relax a little!
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
