"Buy Australian" was
certainly the theme of last week's excellent guest speaker. Jason
Carroll impressed us all with his knowledge of the local car
industry - and what it takes to compete on the world market. I
think it safe to say that more members left with one of his
Suttons or Holden brochures than did with a copy of the bulletin!
Plans for our membership
night are proceeding. The committee have chosen 8 November. Ray
Wilson may have already approached some of you about speaking on
the night. The aim will be to impart quality information about
Rotary to potential members who will have been formally invited to
join us for the evening.
My apologies to Acting
Sergeant Grahame True for omitting the fines session last week.
The meeting had overrun and your president made an instant
decision to skip the fines. I know Grahame would have been well
prepared with good material and I encourage him to use it this
week in the cross fines session, or to offer it at a price to
Sergeant Peter Foss.
This week is Rotary
Awareness Week. I hope members have been able to make at least a
small contribution to spreading the good word about our
organisation.. Some may have seen the Rotary item on the Channel 9
Today program. We hope to have a Strathfield Scene story.
Special thanks to Bradley
Ayres, Roger and Jan Vince and Allan and Kate Teale for their
involvement in the RYPEN session held this week. Bradley will
report more fully elsewhere.
District conference
planning is reaching a key milestone and this Thursday and Friday
a number of us will make our pitch to 9690 clubs encouraging them
to attend. Please see Ted Ingall to secure accommodation.
Please remember to keep
Bulletin Editor Bob Templeman up to date with news and goings-on.
He is always on the look-out for material.
This week we welcome Bob
Sendt, very recently retired New South Wales Auditor General., as
our guest speaker.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
President Rod
