As I listened to District
Governor Harley last week, the thought crossed my mind that my "to do"
list might just be about to reach its limit! Harley has certainly raised
the bar for the club with some challenging stretch targets. Your board
and I will be doing our best to achieve them – but will need all club
members to be part of the effort.
Thanks to Keith Byrn for
enthusiastically tackling implementation of the Rotary Youth driver
Awareness (RYDA) program within our club. Ian Robertson the RYDA CEO
will be our guest speaker on 2 August. The project will be an
opportunity for members to become involved in identifying candidates for
this very worthwhile program within our community. Please give Keith
your support.
Peter Harries is up and running
in his capacity as programs chairman and is seeking guest speakers. In
the past, some of our best speakers have come through the contacts of
members and I ask all club members to give some thought how they can
assist. This is an opportunity to become involved with relatively low
effort. My thanks to David Croft and Peter Manenti for their assistance.
Your new board has now met for
the first time since being officially appointed. Meetings are held on
the first Wednesday of the month. Members are invited to attend to raise
issues or make suggestions. But please see Secretary Roger Vince
beforehand so that he may include an item on the agenda.
Our club assembly is scheduled
for next week. With change clearly on the agenda for this year and with
presentations from DG Harley and ADG Raymond fresh in our minds I am
hopeful for a productive meeting – with perhaps some healthy debate. I
am optimistic that members will make a special effort to attend – and to
contribute.
Enjoy Rotary … by getting
involved!
