A
warm Strathfield Rotary welcome to our Group Study Exchange (GSE)
guests this week from North Carolina. Welcome too, to the many GSE
alumni joining us, including Ted Ingall's team who travelled to
North Carolina in 1975. The GSE program began in 1955 in New
Zealand and was later adopted by the Rotary Foundation as an
official educational program.
It was
a pleasure to induct Craig Eldredge at our meeting last week. I
wish him an enjoyable and rewarding association with Rotary and
our club.
Bradley
is still seeking assistance in organising the Model United Nation
Assembly (MUNA) debates.
At this stage we seem likely to host at least six teams from local
schools. This is an excellent youth development program – please
lend your support.
David
Croft has kindly volunteered to organise the traditional Anzac Day
barbecue breakfast at Cape Cabarita. Anzac Day falls on a
Wednesday this year and our Rotary meeting for that day has been
cancelled. David is seeking suggestions for a speaker for the
morning. Please send him your ideas.
Those
attending the wine tasting last week hosted by Cellarbrations at
Strathfield enjoyed a pleasant evening with fine wines, expert
commentary and good fellowship. The evening raised over $700, to
be donated to Chalmers Road Special School.
The district conference is this weekend and seems sure to be a
great success. Registrations are now almost 500 and still coming
in!!
Next week is a partners night and we will welcome Carol Langsford
from the Trish Foundation for the presentation of the proceeds
from the golf fundraiser. Professor Judy Lumby will be our special
guest speaker.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
