On
behalf of all members, well done to Brian Johnson and the past
presidents for an efficiently run annual general meeting last week
– one for which I can take no credit! Congratulations to President
Elect Brian's newly elected 2007-08 directors and to Grahame True
as our president for the 2008-09 year.
We can be confident that the club is in very capable hands for at
least the next two Rotary years.
Carols by Candlelight was a success this year. Both the weather
and attendance were good. Through the kind efforts of the MC our
club gained some excellent exposure. The night raised $3,900 for
the drought relief fund.
Thanks to Joe Campisi and the team (including team leaders Shirley
Del Prado, Raymond McCluskie and Allan Teale) and the many
Rotarians and their partners who ensured that the night was up to
the usual high standard. It was gratifying to see that some of our
newer members were able to attend, including Godfrey Isouard and
Ian Johnson. A special thanks to Keith Byrn, George Helou Janelle
Watson, Roger Vince and Brian Driver who donated prizes.
Thanks to Paul Giammarco and Janelle Watson who attended school
prize givings this week. I attended Meriden and found the
experience very rewarding. Please contact Bradley Ayres if you are
able to assist.
Tonight our club relaxes to enjoy our Christmas party. Brian
Johnson has organised a superb evening and all proceeds will go to
our drought relief fund. Thanks to Brian who will make the trip to
Forbes personally this week to present our cheque - in time for
Christmas.
Next week Mr Alacazam will entertain young and old alike at the
children's Christmas party organised by Connie Galletta. All
members are invited to attend and enjoy the fun – 6:00 pm at the
golf club.
Peter Harries has organised a fellowship dinner on 10 January at
La Botte D'Oro Italian Restaurant, 7:00 for 7:30 pm.
For many this will be the last bulletin of the year. Maree and I
wish you and your family a safe, happy and relaxing Christmas and
look forward to seeing you again in the new year
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
