This
week we welcome Chinese Consul-General Qiu Shaofang as our guest
speaker. We are very appreciative of the time made available by
him to join us for the evening.
Thanks to Eve Dutton for an interesting and humorous "This is My
Life" talk last week. We will need to ask her back to recount the
earlier parts of the story.
Congratulations to Keith Byrn who has obtained approval from the
Sydney Olympic Park Authority for use of The Armory to run our
youth driver training program, RYDA.
Our Pride of Workmanship awards will be held on 18 October. Kevin
Beltrame has the arrangements well in hand and nominations are now
closed. This will be a partners night, an evening that typifies
the ideals of Rotary and a great function to which members may
wish to invite friends and colleagues.
After many years of discussion Rotary wheels are to be constructed
in the district promoting the existence of our club. Eve Dutton
has obtained the necessary approvals and George Hallworth is in
the process of ordering the signs. One sign will be positioned
near the approach to the golf club.
Thank you to the many members who have provided names of
individuals to be invited to our Rotary information night on 8
November. Ray Wilson and Niall King will soon issue the final
invitations - but there is still time for last minute suggestions.
Ray has organised a meeting for those speaking on the evening
immediately after this week's club meeting.
Anyone talking with Euan Watson this week would have found a man
facing life with renewed enthusiasm – and with the greater part of
his therapy now behind him. At the time of writing Euan was
planing to be at this week's club meeting!
The last page of this week's bulletin again contains the current
director portfolios and committees. Please send questions or
corrections to me.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
