For a
president with a background in technology, it is great to have a
guest speaker from a related field. Our speaker last week, Rob
Campbell, gave members an excellent update on developments in the
telecommunications field – but for me, all that talk about
megabits and nanoseconds was the real buzz!!
Youth Director Bradley Ayres is having a busy time with this
year's Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), Rotary Youth
Enrichment Program (RYPEN) and the Youth Achievement Awards (a
joint initiative with Strathfield Council).
I encourage members to accept Bradley's invitation to observe some
of the MUNA debates personally. Please see him for details. Thanks
to Angelo Franco for agreeing to assist with the Youth Achievement
Awards.
Bob Templeman has signalled his intention to join a Rotary club
closer to home and after many years will leave Strathfield to join
Springwood. Rotary. More information later. Angelo has very kindly
agreed to step in as bulletin editor.
Ray Wilson, Niall King and Brian Johnson are putting the details
in place for our Rotary information Night on 9 May. Please ensure
that Ray has the names and contact details of those you recommend
be invited – by 20 April.
This week President Elect Brian Johnson will have the pleasure of
running the meeting as I take a short break..
Joe Campisi has plans for our Trivia Night in hand. The night once
again promises great fun and fellowship, and an opportunity to
raise funds for the Chalmers Road Special School and the Meriden
Interact Club. Please invite your family and friends.
"Actually it is more
of a grimace!"
Conference Chair Bert Houston, following a suggestion that since
he was smiling, all was in readiness for the district conference.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
