President's Pieces

30 June 2004

Well, what a week this has been!!!

My sincere thanks go to everyone who attended and took part in our Club Changeover last Wednesday evening. Reports coming back are indicating all who attended enjoyed the evening.

I am certainly proud to stand before you as President for this our centenary year of Rotary.

Last Friday afternoon I attended the funeral of our friend and club member John Taylor. It was pleasing to see so many Rotarians in attendance. The very dignified service was conducted by PP and frequent visitor Peter Kilkeary.

Ray Wilson has approached me and is very keen to resurrect a District Golf Day. Ray would like to dedicate this day to the memory of John Taylor. We will approach all other Clubs in the District and if sufficient interest is shown, Ray and his team will take over organising what should be a great event.

On Saturday evening Sue and I attended the District Changeover to see now Past District Governor Warwick Tester hand over to incoming District Governor Lloyd Roever. Once again Strathfield was well represented.

A number of our members have accepted positions at District level, they are P.P.Keith Stockall, P.P.Steve Taylor, P.P. Euan Watson and P.P.Bob Templeman. Congratulations fellows, we are proud of you.

Next week, Wednesday 7 July, will be my first Club Assembly. This is your opportunity to give your input and offer practical suggestions for our future direction and to have your say.

On Wednesday 21 July we will be hosting a visit by D.G.Lloyd Roever. It would be an excellent opportunity to show 100% attendance. How about it fellows!

I am encouraged by the many offers of assistance I have been given. I will need to call on many of you to assist in the coming twelve months, so thank you again for all the offers.

Only 51 weeks to go, so lets get down to business for the tasks ahead, and just as importantly, let us enjoy a year of wonderful fellowship.

“MORE NEXT WEEK”

President Keith
