President's Pieces

28 July 2004

Greetings Fellows,

Last weeks visit by DG Lloyd Roever was well received with Lloyd outlining his plans for the coming year. The main feature of Lloyds address was to emphasize the importance of all of us supporting the Rotary Foundation & Health Research.

I am sure that we will have no difficulty in supporting these worthwhile causes.

On Thursday evening Sue & I along with other members of Strathfield Club attended a dinner at Parramatta Leagues Club to honour Harley Tarrant. It was pleasing to see Strathfield so well represented.

I might add that the night was a sellout, a testament to Harley’s popularity.

Our Conference Chairman, Ted Ingall has increased the accommodation requirements for next year’s District Conference in light of the indications from our Club as to the number of people intending to attend the conference in Canberra.

We would like to have as many members as possible attend the conference so please continue to give it some serious thought.

It should be a great informative and social weekend.

We still need help in finding somewhere to safely store our Club’s equipment. We have had a quote on a commercial storage garage but it seems too expensive at the cost of $200 per month.

If anyone can help please give me a call.

It is pleasing to note that we have plans well underway for several functions & fundraising activities. We are looking forward to a great year.

After our first board meeting last Wednesday evening we have agreed to support the following charities,

  • Rotary Foundation

  • Rotary Health Research

  • Ashfield Infants Home

  • Youth off the Streets,

being our main recipients.

More on this as we progress through the year.

Until then, LET’S CELEBRATE ROTARY.

“MORE NEXT WEEK”

President Keith
