President's Pieces

25 August 2004

Greetings Fellows,

Firstly this week I would like to thank two of our Club members.

Richard Horwood has volunteered to be our Programs Chairman for this Rotary year. We have faced some difficulty to date securing someone to coordinate the guest speakers and thanks to Richard we can look forward to a quality program from now on.

If any Club members have suggestions for a guest speaker please contact Richard or myself to follow up.

A second thank you goes to Joe Campisi who has found safe storage for our Rotary equipment at his Mother’s home. Any member who has any equipment or material belonging to the Club, please contact Joe to arrange storage.

At last weeks Board meeting we agreed that any member who fails to apologise for non attendance to a weekly meeting will receive an invoice for dinner costs.

This is not an option that is pleasing but is something that we must now follow up.

Last week Euan Watson explained to us in detail the requirement for any club members who are involved in ANY activities involving youth through Rotary programs etc. to sign a Child Protection form.

I believe that this form should be signed by all club members, however if you choose not to sign you must be aware that you may not be involved in any activities involving youth via our club.

This rule will be enforced, as District rightfully demands that we adhere strictly to the rules.

On a lighter note, Connie has some great plans in place for our “Pride of Workmanship” presentation dinner. If you have anyone in mind for nomination please contact Connie as soon as possible.

Don’t forget Fellows we have Christmas cards available for sale at $10 for a packet of 10 quality cards to support the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund.

Please see Allan Petersen to purchase.

Until then, LET’S CELEBRATE ROTARY.

“MORE NEXT WEEK”

President Keith
