President's Pieces

20 April 2005

Greetings Fellows,

What a wonderful night we had last week at the combined Strathfield Council & Rotary Youth Awards.

We certainly have some talented and dedicated young people in our community.

I feel that we have not heard the last of these young folk.

I am certain that some of them will be future Leaders in their respective vocations.

Our thanks go to those who helped to make the night the success that it was, especially Kevin Beltrame and Marisa Luongo from Strathfield Council.

Marisa is the Community worker and Awards Coordinator for the Council.

Last week in the bulletin there was a flyer enclosed reminding everyone that our major fundraiser, the “WSFM Bike the Park” event is only two weeks away.

On the back of the flyer was the roster for the day. Could everyone please check the roster and contact your respective team leaders if you or your partner are unable to attend on the day.

Also if anyone is able to promote the bike ride at their place of work please see Rod or Euan who will give you posters to do so.

Thank you everyone, your support is needed to make this day run smoothly.

A reminder to all that there is an Anzac Day breakfast at Cape Cabarita at 8.00am on the Monday 25th.  Please see further on in the bulletin for more details.

On a more serious note I was sent an email from Shirley Del Prado after she visited a Rotary Club in Wagga last Monday evening. Shirley was visiting at the invitation of the President and his wife.

The reception that Shirley has said that she was given was most “unRotarian” to say the least.

There is a copy of Shirley’s email included in this bulletin.

I have responded to Shirley’s request to contact the President formally so that he can, at this weeks meeting, discuss this behaviour with the club members who were involved.

I have had a reply from the President, Bruce Duffy, who assures us that he will handle the matter in the proper manner.

We await his further reply.

We also welcome Shirley back to our meetings this week as her work in Wagga has finished.

That’s all for now so,

“LET’S CELEBRATE ROTARY”

President Keith
