Hello fellows
I am writing this on Sunday
evening at the end of another ANZAC day and the conclusion of an absolutely
weather perfect autumn day.
My day commenced at Cape
Cabarita around 7.30 a.m. and along with 9 Rotarians and their partners and
a number of Cape Cabarita residents I enjoyed a breakfast from 8.00 a.m.
consisting of juice, fresh fruit salad and bacon & eggs expertly cooked by
Joe Campisi. Following breakfast we all participated in an ANZAC day
memorial service which included a short history of the Parramatta River and
its contribution and involvement during the war years, a reading of
remembrance, a Digger’s poem, a wreath laying ceremony and a Piper who
played 2 numbers on the bag pipes.
I wish to particularly thank
Peter and Anne Manenti for coordinating the event and also Bert & Carol
Houston, Euan & Leedy Watson and Brian & Jenny Hennell for their assistance
as well.
Overall the ANZAC day service
at Cape Cabarita was a wonderful and moving experience.
As at Wednesday night we will
have 4 more sleeps until the “bike the park” event on 2 May. I only hope
the weather will be at least half as good as it was on ANZAC day.
Have a successful week
Keith
