Hello fellows,
It has been a busy week
once again.
I visited the Strathfield
Girls High School this week during their simulated business project. There
were 11 groups of year 10 students with 8-10 students in each group. Their
brief on Monday morning was to purchase hotel as a going concern,
elect/appoint a CEO and recruit an executive team, name the hotel. During
the week there were various targets to be achieved and on Friday they had
produced a promotional video, an annual report and set up trade display. The
involvement of some members of Burwood Rotary club and myself was to act as
mentors during the week and to act as judges on Friday. I recommend we
consider being more involved with the exercise in 2004.
Last Thursday night 18 members
and 4 guests toured the Fairfax Printing plant at Chullora. Speaking for
myself I thoroughly enjoyed and from the vibes I got from the other 21
people with me suggested that the visit was definitely worthwhile.
One of our members just
doesn’t understand when NO means No. We received instructions from the
Fairfax tour guides before the visit and again before the tour started that
no cameras were permitted, however it took 3 serious counseling sessions
before Rod understood that no cameras meant no cameras.
On Saturday at the Ashfield
Infants Home we provided cooking services. Due to the bad weather during
Friday night and Saturday morning we were not able to set up the BBQ trailer
undercover so we used the Infants Home BBQ under cover. I wish to thank
Shirley, Kevin Fruend, Angelo and Steve for assisting me in providing a
community service. Next week we will line up and do it all again next week
at Dan Murphy’s.
