Hello Fellows,
What a
wonderfully successful golf day and evening our club enjoyed last Thursday.
I
repeat my congratulations to Niall King who received a Paul Harris Fellow
last Thursday night. It gave me a great feeling of pride and satisfaction to
present Niall with his PHF. Pride, because I was able to present Niall with
his PHF in front of members and supporters of the Trish Foundation.
Satisfaction, because Niall has worked extremely hard for the club and
during my relatively short time in the club Niall has always been available
to help whenever asked to do so, very rarely does he say “no I can’t do it”
and he does things in a quite and un assuming manner, never looking for
praise.
The
Golf day was enjoyed by 90 golfers who had many and varied stories to tell
about their day and 120 people attended the evening dinner and auction. The
day resulted in raising funds of approximately $17,000 for the Trish
foundation. I know that there were a few different people who assisted with
the golf day and I thank them for that, but from view the main driver and
the person that made it all happen was Niall King. Thank you Niall.
I have
been in Melbourne since last Friday and as a result unable to attend the
President’s meeting on Friday night. President elect Keith Byrn attended in
my absence and will brief me this week on the meeting.
Also, when I returned on Monday morning I received messages advising the
passing, on Thursday 19 February 2004, of GORDON GILLETT. Gordon was
President of our club during the early 1980’s. A funeral service, was held
within the
South
Chapel, Rookwood Crematorium, on Tuesday, February 24, 2004.
