Welcome to another week of Rotary. I
particularly wish to welcome Mrs Carolyn Blanden, Principal of Meriden, to
our meeting tonight. Also welcome to all our partners who are here
tonight.
I was saddened by news received on
Sunday night advising Ray Wilson’s father had passed away on Saturday
night. On behalf of all the members of the club I offer condolences to Ray
and his family, our thoughts are with them, during this time of sadness,
As I mentioned at last week’s meeting
I have received verbal advice from District about some very important
changes to the Public Liability component of the Rotary insurance cover.
Essentially whenever someone is involved in a Rotary activity for personal
gain they must provide evidence of a Certificate of Currency of their
Public Liability insurance cover which must be for a minimum of $10.m.
Cover for Rotarians, spouses and volunteers remains unchanged. When
written confirmation of this directive is received from District I will
pass it on to you.
Again don’t forget the District
Leadership information evening on 15 August 2003 at the Rooty Hill
Convention Centre at 6.30 p.m. As I said this evening should provide an
excellent opportunity for those Rotarians seeking information about Rotary
and what District committees do.
As I write this piece for the
Bulletin, I have just returned home from seeing Barry Humphries in his
show “Back to my Roots” which I attended together with 18 Rotarians and
friends. We had a very funny time. However I felt sorry for Rotarian Alan
Taylor because Dame Edna picked him out of the crowd and referred to him
on more than one occasion as our senior citizen. He even received gladioli
from Dame Edna on conclusion of the show.
I know Rod and Steve have been on the
sick list this week, including myself. I hope we get well soon, I don’t
get sick very often and I don’t like it.
Have a good week
