Hello fellows
What a great night we had last
Wednesday night at the Youth Achievement Awards, a most successful and
rewarding evening. I consider it was successful because of the community
awareness Rotary was able to generate through our involvement with
Strathfield Council and the event. A number of the parents came and thanked
me and others personally to express their appreciation for sponsoring the
event and providing opportunities for young people to gain recognition for
their achievements. It was also rewarding to meet the successful awardees
and hear first hand about their wonderful achievements. Their individual
achievements were truly amazing.
Most of us know that
successful events don’t just happen and are the result of hard work, time
and effort. Whilst I thanked them personally on the night I wish to record
my appreciation and thanks to Kevin Beltrame as well as Marisa Luongo from
Strathfield Council for their combined effort in making the night happen.
Also for those of you who were
not present on the night of the GSE farewell I should mention that John
Leftwich who is a very proud Rotarian announced that his company, General
Electric in the USA had recently considered an application from John, on
behalf of the Ashfield Infant’s Home, for financial assistance for a
community service project. John was very proud to announce that his
application had been approved resulting in the provision of $100,000 over a
two-year period. Congratulations and well done John.
Don’t forget membership is the
responsibility of all of us not just one or two members. Be on the look out
for prospective members and invite them to attend our meetings.
Reminders, ANZAC morning at Cabarita on 25 April. Also partners’ night on 19
May, Alan Davidson will be the guest speaker
Enjoy your week
