Good evening fellows.
Many thanks to Shirley and her BBQ team for turning out last Friday afternoon to provide the BBQ facilities at the South Strathfield Primary School fete. I understand there was a great demand and they were all sold out by soon after 6.00 p.m.
While on the subject of BBQ’s we have just been requested by the Ashfield Infants home to again provide our services at their annual fete on 22 November. I will confirm our acceptance this week. Also the next date for a BBQ at Dan Murphy’s will be probably be 29 November approvals should be completed this week.
This week we received packs of Christmas cards for sale on behalf of the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF). These cards are available to purchase in packs of 24 @ a cost of $16.00 per pack.
Following on from Janelle’s announcement last week about a mentoring program which is about to take place at the Strathfield Girls High School in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Burwood. I had a discussion with Debbie Irwin, Deputy Principal last Thursday. The program runs 17 – 21 November during Australian Business Week and I will be taking an interest in order that The Rotary Club of Strathfield can establish a relationship with the school program for future years.
A reminder that club elections will be held on 3 December 2003 to elect the Board for the 2004/2005 year. I encourage all club members to consider nominating for positions on Keith Byrn’s Board and other positions of office. Remember it’s your club, you get out of it what you put into it.
Our Christmas function this year will be on 10 December and I hope to be in a position to advise details shortly.
Don’t forget there is no meeting at the Golf Club on 19 November, there is a transfer meeting to inspect the Fairfax printing plant at I Worth Street Chullora on Thursday 20 November 2003 at 6.15 p.m. sharp.
