President's Pieces

11 February 2004

Hello Fellows,

Welcome back to the Golf Club on completion of the building work.

Last week I presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the “Bowling Club Volunteers” who have provided for us so well, at short notice, over the last 3 weeks.

Child Protection

Rotary International Code of Conduct for working with youth states:

“Rotary International is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in Rotary activities. It is the duty of all Rotarians, Rotarians spouses, Partners and other volunteers, to safeguard, to the best of their ability, the welfare of, and to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and young people wit whom they come in contact”.

In order to address this need District 9690 is to hold a seminar / workshop for all interested Rotarians to update their knowledge in this area. Beginning in the 2004/2005 Rotary year it will be a pre-requisite for all those involved in youth programs to attend such training.

I encourage as many members as possible to attend this seminar.

The Child Protection Seminar will be held at:

Blue Mountains Grammar School

Adele Avenue, (off Great Western Highway)

Wentworth Falls.

Sunday 7 March 2004

 9.00 to 12.30 p.m.

Your Board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday 10 February. I will report to you at our Wednesday dinner meeting.

Have a good week.

Keith
