Hello fellows,
What a busy month March was,
concluding with a visit to the musical, Lion King, last Tuesday night and
farewell to the GSE Team from Houston last Wednesday night.
Last Tuesday a group of 25,
made up of members, family and friends, had an evening out to see the Lion
King. It was an entertaining and enjoyable evening, which had the most
spectacular costumes and stage set that I have experienced for some time.
At our meeting last week we
hosted the GSE Team from District 5890 Houston for their farewell meeting in
District 9690. Our meeting was attended by DG Warwick and his wife, PDG John
Wakefield and his wife Sue, the District GSE Chairman Duncan Berriman and
his wife Dorothy together with members of the Rotary Clubs of Burwood,
Concord and Springwood. The GSE team consisting of Charles, as team leader
and 3 girls each provided us with very moving speeches. Our club presented
each of the team members with a pewter mug each suitably engraved as a
moment. In addition PP Stephen Taylor presented each member with an
individual Pecan pie which apparently is a favorite of the Texans.
On Saturday a few of us
attended the District Assembly held at Meriden School. President elect Keith
Byrn attended with some of his new Board, George Hallworth, Connie Galletta
and Kevin Beltrame. PP Stephen Taylor attended due to his District role for
the Foundation and I attended to run the sessions for Treasurers elect.
This evening we welcome
recipients of Youth Awards together with their family and friends. The
awards are presented by the Rotary Club of Strathfield in conjunction with
Strathfield Municipal Council
Just to finish off another
busy week, by the time you read this bulletin, the Strathfield Rotary Club
Go Kart Grand Prix at Eastern Creek will have been run and one last night.
I’m sure there will be plenty to report about the evening in next week’s
Bulletin.
Enjoy your week.
Keith
