Good evening fellows.
What an excellent
meeting we had last week with guest speaker Rod Monk, who gave us a view of
Public Art, I’m sure we hadn’t considered before. Rod spoke with genuine
passion for public art and what he has achieved with in his profession.
Those members who didn’t attend last week’s meeting missed a great night.
Last Friday night I
attended the District Governor’s monthly President’s meeting at Penrith
Panthers. Below are the main topics covered.
Registrations are continuing to be received for the conference at Central
Coast Leagues club Gosford 19/20/21 March 2004. To date there has been one
registration from Strathfield and I urge you all to be proactive by
registering for the conference and the opportunity to find out what is
happening with Rotary not only in our own district but globally .as well.
I understand there will be an interesting line up of guest speakers and
will include Max Walker.
We were reminded of
our goal to obtain one new member per, month from September, that means we
are now 2 members short of target. It is just not up to the membership
development committee of the club, It is the responsibility of everyone in
the club to invite potential members to attend meetings with the view of
inviting them to join.
Included in the
District dues for 2004 will be an additional $2.00 to cover the
administration and running costs to ensure the projects can continue.
Rotary has been
invited to trial proposed new procedures being proposed by the Child
Protection Commissioner. District Governor Warwick has agreed that
District 9690 will participate, we will receive more details on this
shortly. Those members who have already signed declarations will not be
asked to sign again.
An item for noting,
the Rotary Club of South Penrith has formally changed their name and will
now be known as the Rotary Club of Penrith Valley.
Don’t forget as advised
previously, the Golf Club is not available for our meeting on 19 November so
a transfer meeting is being arranged to inspect the Fairfax printing plant
at Chullora on Thursday 20 November 2003.
Have a good week
Keith
