Joseph Kim being inducted by President Grahame TrueI inducted our new member Joseph Kim last week – it was wonderful to find that he is a neighbour of mine; there are now two Rotarians in Strathlora Street. Looking forward to Joseph having happy times in our club.

Guest Speaker Matt Balogh and President Grahame True

Matt Balogh was our guest speaker last Wednesday. I think we all now know how to keep businesses running like a well oiled machine (start at the top).

I was honoured to speak at the Citizenship Ceremony at the Strathfield Town Hall last Thursday. It was a joyous occasion as we welcomed over one hundred new citizens into our great country.

Thanks go out to Kevin Beltrame, Shirley Del Prado, Angelo Franco, Kevin Freund, Harley Tarrant and Peter Van Der Sleesen who were our drivers and chaperones on the RYPEN (click)student delivery run last Friday.

On Sunday Breakfast Point (creek) Club had their first major function “Jazz in the Park”. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to them, however the great music and festivities continued in the sheltered area. Our Strathfield barbeque sizzled away with the help of some of our Rotarians, well done guys nurturing our “off spring”.

I am sad to hear the passing of PDG Ken Nicholls O.A.M and recipient of the “Rotary International Service above Self Award”. Ken was a member of Granville Club and was the DG ’87-88.

Looking forward to the fellowship night of Chinese cuisine on Thursday. I have my chopsticks at the ready (contact Steve Taylor: click for email for a late booking).

A final dinner for the winding up of Silverwater Homebush Bay Club will be held on the 10th October – if you would like to attend see me for details or click for invitation.

Our Para Olympians are doing well in the medal tally. It looks like Australia will have a great result, bringing home the glory.

Don’t forget our partners’ night on the 1st October – I am sure the guest speaker from I.C.A.C. will be interesting for all. Make sure we have a great roll up.

OH NO the rugby! Congratulations Peter Douglas and dare I say it, one of our sergeants – well done to the All Blacks.

Remember:  Fun and fellowship in Rotary

President Grahame
