Grahame True with Penny

President 2007-8

Rotary Club of Strathfield

 President Electric's Lines

Wednesday 9 July 2008

Last week was club assembly- I would like to thank our directors for presenting their outline for the year. This year as you are aware the PE Kevin Freund has no portfolio, this leaves Kevin free to help in all aspects of the club. Previously PE held the portfolio of club service director – we hope this change is for the better.

Again this year we will be holding the ‘Police Officer of the Year Awards’. Peter Smith has it well in hand so don’t forget the 29th August. It is a partner’s night and it would be great to have a good roll - up.

Don’t forget to put your name on the commitment sheet for a night of excellent food and fellowship at the Buddha Raska on the 29th July. I can personally recommend the food. This will be a small fundraiser to start our ‘coffers’ for the year.

As a Presidents on going concerns about attendance I have been following up our Rotarians who have a poor attendance record to see what there intentions are. I will notify the club of the outcomes.

There was discussion from the floor last week as to publishing photos of our Rotarians without consent – if you don’t want your photo published would you please let PP Rod know. I know Rod does a fantastic job with the photos but he does not want to upset anybody.

From the show of hands last week Neil and Paul are moving forward in organising a transfer meeting at the Care Flight Centre Westmead.

RI Present DK Lee has asked each Rotary Club to help take the final step in the eradication of polio. Our DG Paul has asked each club in his district to raise an additional $1000 per year for the next three years to reach this goal.

At our board meeting tomorrow night we will be discussing points raised at the club assembly (directors don’t forget 7.30pm my place).

Remember:  Fun and fellowship in Rotary

President Grahame
