Grahame True with Penny

President 2007-8

Rotary Club of Strathfield

 President Electric's Lines

Wednesday 6 August 2008

This week saw the beginning of August, not only horses birthday, but membership extension month. Ray Wilson has already put his hand up again to organise a membership drive. It has been decided to go ahead with this later in the Rotary year, however, don’t let this stop anyone from inviting prospective members to our meetings.

Don’t forget we have our Police Officer of the Year awards on 27th August. Peter Smith is working hard to make this an enjoyable night for Police, Rotarians and partners – so don’t forget to support this night.

Tuesday of last week a group of us and partners enjoyed a delicious meal at the Buddha Raksa Thai restaurant. Tep welcomed us making his restaurant available at a reasonable price allowing approximately $500 to be added to our bank balance – thanks to Niall for organising a wonderful night. If you are thinking of dining out locally please support the Buddha Raksa.

I hope you have all read the current R.D.U. magazine. If you have, bananas will be top of your shopping list, if you have not, add them post haste. Eat them and you will be helped with depression , anaemia, blood pressure, brain power, hang overs and the list goes on – I hope R.D.U. is right!!!!

Whilst on the subject of the  R.D.U.  magazine it is good to see a photo of our own “off spring” club – Breakfast Point on their charter night complete with Centenary Bell.

Last week Brian Odgers from the Exodus Foundation let us know that Exodus does not only stand for “loaves and dishes”, but has many other arms, and interesting speaker.

This week we welcome slightly belatedly our G.S.E. team – looking forward to hearing from them.

I must congratulate Peter Douglas’ All Blacks on Saturday nights annihilation of the Wallabies – don’t worry we will be back.

Remember:  Fun and fellowship in Rotary
