At the end of last Wednesday nights proceedings I again felt
proud to be part of this organisation we call Rotary.
The Pride of Workmanship Awards night saw twelve deserved
people receive their awards in front of over 100
distinguished guests, Rotarians and partners and the
awardees families and friends. Thanks go to Vocational
Services Director PP Keith Byrn and his Committee for
organising and running yet another excellent awards event.
What an excellent guest speaker was Col Joye OAM. He had us
all rolling in the aisles with stories of his life.
For those unable to attend last weeks meeting, on the night
I was privileged and honoured to bestow honorary membership
on Arthur Crossin, partner of Rotarian Janelle Watson.
Arthur was welcomed warmly into the Club.
LAURA'S CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
For those who are not aware Rotary has a Youth Exchange
Program and our Club are fortunate this year to host a
delightful young woman , Laura Fleurquin, from Rodez in
France.
Laura's activities over the past week were:
Wednesday to Friday- School Camp.
Saturday- Surfing lessons with other Exchange Students at
Manly (organised by
District 9690)
Sunday- At Bondi beach with friends..
A reminder to fellow Rotarians that it is not just the host
families who are to look after and entertain our exchange
student. Laura should feel that she is a part of each and
every family within our Club. Lets all make Laura's stay in
our country a truly memorable one.
Remember “Service Above Self”.
