At our meeting of 21st
November we were entertained by Margaret Streamer, whose
hobby/passion of astronomy was well presented, and indeed
Margaret was well received by those members in attendance on
the night.
Thanks once again to
Domenico and Johanna Alvaro for their wonderful hospitality
last Sunday. 40 Rotarians and their partners enjoyed a bbq
lunch and plenty of fellowship at the Alvaros property at
Bowral. Thanks also to Suzanne Freund for organising the day
Hats off to Niall King
and his committee for a great finish, on Wednesday night, to
an excellent Community Service Project. Again I thank all of
those Rotarians who in some way assisted Niall in bringing
this worthwhile project to completion.
On the night the Dr
Euan Watson Memorial Garden was formally handed over to the
Studdy MS Centre, the plaque being unveiled
by Leedy Watson
in the presence of some 100 rotarians , partners, MS special
guests and some of those MS sufferers who live at the
centre.
Young MS sufferer and
Australian Ambassador for MS Stephen Papadopolous gave an
inspirational talk on his life with MS and how he copes with
the disease generally. For those who could not attend I can
only say you missed a great Rotary experience.
I wish President Elect
Grahame True all the best with election of board members for
2008-09 at the AGM.
Remember fellows “Many
hands make light work”
We know that our theme for the year is “Rotary Shares”, and
we do. However the one that always comes to mind, and we all
understand is one of the main reasons we have become
Rotarians, is “Service Above Self”.
