PDG John Wakefield did a great job of informing us of the
wonderful work carried out by the Rotary Foundation at our
meeting of 31st October.
It is important to note that the objective of The Rotary
Foundation of Rotary International is the achievement of
world peace through international charitable and
educational programmes.
Among the numerous projects/programmes the Foundation funds
each year are:-
• Scholarships for
graduate, undergraduate, vocational and journalism
scholars and teachers of the handicapped.
• Group Study Exchanges
• International humanitarian projects through special
grants, and health, hunger and humanity grants.
• Grants for university teachers to serve in developing
countries other than their own.
• Immunisation activities to protect millions of
children against polio.
• Various other international programmes.
PP Raymond McCluskie has prepared an informative report on
the transfer meeting to Burwood Club on Monday night 5th
November, for your information.
Looking forward to Wednesday’s presentation by PDG Ken
Nicholls on Donations in Kind.
We know that our theme for the year is “Rotary Shares”, and
we do. However the one that always comes to mind, and we all
understand is one of the main reasons we have become
Rotarians, is “Service Above Self”.
