President's Notes
16 October 2019
Dear fellows,
YUENDUMU PROJECT
Our Yuendumu Project is alive and well. This is our club’s
first Indigenous project!
Identification
There were many discussions and research undertaken by Community Service
Director Usha Garg, PP Allan Teale and his daughter Mollie Teale, who is a
school teacher based in Yuendumu to identify a worthwhile local project
involving our Indigenous community.

District Grant
Usha has been working closely with Mollie to research and submit a detailed
proposal to our District Committee. Despite record applications, it was deemed
to be worthy of a District Grant.
Once approved we were required to raise $5,000 which would be matched by the
District Grant.
Spring Fling
This is where PP Allan stepped up and organised a terrific fundraiser. The event
“Spring Fling” was held at our club’s great and generous supporter “Nonna’s
Restaurant” on Saturday 12 October. The target of $5,000 was achieved thanks to
Allan and Mollie’s hard work and the generosity of sponsors and to those who
attended the event.

Guests of Honour
On the night, we were enlightened by a great and insightful conversation between
legendary Australian representative siblings, rugby great Glen Ella along with
netball legend Marcia Ella Duncan OAM.
