The President's Column

A very warm welcome to our guests tonight for this our eighth Police Officer of the Year Awards. We are pleased and honoured that Commissioner Andrew Scipione can be with us again tonight to present the awards.

Rotary’s motto, “Service above Self”, could well be the motto of the NSW Police Force. The 10 nominees here tonight have shown that they too have put service before self. The awards   are “to acknowledge acts of courtesy, kindness, understanding, compassion, courage and devotion to duty” - and all nominees have readily met this high standard,

The Rotary Club of Strathfield is proud to help organise the awards to acknowledge the dedication, commitment and service, provided by officers serving our community in the Burwood & Flemington Local Area Commands.

Congratulations to all tonight’s nominees – Strathfield Rotary, on behalf of the local the Burwood, Strathfield and Auburn communities, acknowledge with gratitude your efforts

banner_index1.jpgI would like to thank Chief Inspector Arthur Aleksandrowicz and Inspector Jason Inkster for all the work they did in coordinating and promoting the awards within their respective Local Area Commands.

My thanks to PP Doug Potter and his committee for organising and presenting tonight’s awards – I hope you all have an enjoyable evening.

Please support our raffle tonight – the proceeds, as in previous years, will be donated to NSW Police Legacy.

Last week the club was delighted to host the 5th annual Literacy Extension Presentation Evening, for the year 9 and 10 students, from Strathfield Girls High School. The students displayed enthusiasm and passion during their presentations, demonstrating a dedication to their English studies and can feel truly proud of their achievements. It was a privilege to witness the talent of the youth in our community.

The success of the evening would not have been possible without the efforts of English Teacher. Gabrielle Correy.   The students were supported by their school Principal, a number of their teachers and of course their very proud parents. Rotarian Paul White coordinated what was a great evening.
