Tonight we welcome students from Strathfield Girls High School, to entertain us with their Presentation Evening for the Literacy Extension Program. A significant amount of time and effort has been contributed by the girls, their teacher, Gabrielle Corry and Paul White, to culminate with tonight’s presentation. We feel confident that it will be a rewarding and satisfying experience for all participants.

Last week we were provided with an informative and detailed presentation, by Dr Michael Storey, from Sydney Water, on how our water is secured for life in four different ways, Dams; Recycling; Desalination and Water Efficiency. I now feel more confident about the future of our water supplies, after Michael’s presentation.

On Friday night I attended the first President’s meeting for the year, and enjoyed a pleasant evening hearing about the many activities happening throughout our district. I would remind members that District Governor Paul Reid, together with Julia, will be visiting our club, on September 16th, and encourage both members and their partners to be in attendance to show our support and enjoy a good night of fellowship.

The club has received 2 copies of a 10 minute video titled “What in the World is Rotary?” from the Rotary Club of Lane Cove. It is an extremely impressive and professional video presented by Roger Climpson, providing a wonderful recruitment tool for prospective new members. The Lane Cove Club has distributed 2 free copies to every Rotary Club in Australia, a most worthy gesture.
