For everybody in attendance at last week’s meeting I am sure that they felt privileged to have the opportunity to listen to the presentation given by Dr Julie Greenhalgh, Principal Meriden School. Julie provided important, thoughtful and detailed experiences gained from her years involved in teaching and parenting. The response from members and guests was admirable, with Julie involved in discussion, well after the conclusion of the meeting.

On Friday, many Rotarians were in attendance to join with the Pickett Family in saying farewell and celebrating the full and wonderful life of Lilian Pickett, at Macquarie Park.

Six young students from our local schools attended The Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) over the weekend, and I would like to thank Harley Tarrant, Peter Smith, Eric Khu and Kevin Beltrame for being chaperons, and Allan Teale and Arthur Crossan for being available if required.

A reminder to members, the Strathfield Spring Fair is on Sunday 27th September, with barbecue duties commencing at 8.00a.m.

I would like to encourage all members to consider nominating someone from the community, who they feel worthy of receiving a Pride of Workmanship Award, and are able to attend our presentation evening on 28th October.

I must confess that September is always a most enjoyable time of the year for me with the football finals happening and the standard this year has been outstanding and compelling viewing, and if I am not mistaken, we welcome our District Governor Paul Reid and his wife Julia tonight, in joyous mood, following the exploits of Parramatta, and we look forward to his presentation on the District’s activities and goals.

President Kevin.
