Wednesday 14 April 2010

I was saddened during last week’s meeting when Niall King made his announcement that he was severing the links between The Trish MS Foundation and Strathfield Rotary. Over the last nine years Niall & Ray Wilson have worked tirelessly to make the annual golf day and fundraising night a special event in our calendar. I am sure that the majority of members feel as I do and hope that Niall will reconsider his decision.

David Croft has advised me that nomination forms are now available for members to nominate this year’s recipient of The Service Above Self Award. The recipient of this award will be chosen by secret ballot of all members of the club, not by the President or the BoardPDG David Croft and will be presented with an individual plaque together with the perpetual trophy at the Club Changeover on Friday 25th June.

A reminder that The Anzac Day Breakfast at Cape Cabarita on Sunday 25th April, is again being organized by David Croft and his dedicated group, commencing at 8 a.m.

Do not forget to rummage through your house to find and collect any 5 and 10 cent coins and help fill our collection bucket for The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal on Sunday 30th May.

As President this year I have on many occasions used the resources of our club website to gain and convey information to our members and members of the general public. It is a great site, expertly managed by Past President Ray McCluskie and I encourage all members to visit it and explore the expansive rangePDG Harley Tarrant of information and links available at your fingertips.

Last week we gained a wonderful insight into the Japanese culture, through an enlightening presentation by PDG Harley Tarrant, displaying PowerPoint skills (slideshow) that a veteran would be proud of.

Tonight we welcome Richard Batterley, a passionate and talented photographer, best known for his strong Australian rural and urban landscapes as well as his continued involvement in a casual and photojournalistic approach to portrait work.

Cheers,

President Kevin
