Our club can feel proud in the acknowledgement of the dedicated service provided by all Police Officers in the Burwood and Flemington area commands. The Police Officer of the Year Awards, held last week, highlighted the vital role they play in maintaining an orderly society, whilst exhibiting the ethos of the Police Force, outstanding acts of courage, kindness, understanding, compassion, courtesy and devotion to duty.

Congratulations to Senior Constable Paul Wearne, from Flemington Command, and Constable James Peter Whelan, From Burwood Command, who were worthy recipients of the award.

The attendance of Commissioner Andrew Scipione, together with other senior members of the force, demonstrated the esteem that the awards now hold throughout the force. All those in attendance were extremely impressed by Commissioner Scipione’s speech and it was an inspiration to witness his relaxed accessibility, as it provided for a great evening of fellowship amongst Police Officers and Rotarians.

It was great to be able to provide a donation of $1500.00 to NSW Police Legacy, raised from the raffle, and thanks must go to Connie Galletta, Peter Smith, Suzanne Freund, Doug Potter, Allan Teale and George Helou for their efforts in providing for a most rewarding and enjoyable evening.
