A very warm welcome to our guests this evening for this our seventh Police Officer of the Year Awards. We are all honoured that Commissioner Andrew Scipione is with us tonight to present the awards.

The Rotary Club of Strathfield is proud to help organise the awards to acknowledge the dedication, commitment and service, provided by officers serving our community in the Burwood & Flemington Local Area Commands.

Rotary’s motto, “Service above Self”, is also extremely applicable to all Police Officers, and in particular, those who have been nominated for this year’s awards. The multitude of duties the Police undertake help all of us, throughout the community, enjoy a better life.

Congratulations to all those who have been nominated tonight, what you have achieved is something you should be extremely proud of.

My thanks to Connie Galletta and her committee for organizing tonight’s awards, and trust everyone has an enjoyable evening.
