As we approach the festive season and look forward to spending more time relaxing with family and friends it is also a time to reflect and consider that the work of Rotary continues throughout our community.

Many schools in the Strathfield region are currently concluding their school year with Annual Presentation Awards, celebrating achievements of students, and Rotary is again represented through our Citizenship Awards, well organized by our Youth Director, Kevin Beltrame.

Kevin with assistance from Paul White has also arranged for four young members of the community to attend and participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a six day live-in program, fully funded by our club, to be held in mid January next year. The Program provides an opportunity for young, potential leaders to learn some leadership skills and experience the benefit of some great examples of leadership from community and corporate leaders.

A significant milestone in the life for our Treasurer, Keith Stockall, was celebrated on Sunday, with family and friends, in the beautiful surrounds of Cape Cabarita, thanks to the organizational skills of Steve and Denise Taylor. Keith provides a great example to everyone that if you are constantly active and vital, age is never a barrier. Congratulations Keith, on your many achievements.

Tonight we all have an opportunity to actively participate in the leadership and future of our club in the election of members to President Elect Peter Smith’s Board for the year 2010-2011, and elect the President Elect Nominee for 2011-2012, and I encourage all members to positively consider their involvement and support for Peter.

Cheers,

President Kevin
