This week we welcome District Governor Bill Little and his
wife, Irene, to our Club. DG Bill is no stranger to the Strathfield area
having been in management positions with Arnotts Biscuits for many years.
He brings a great wealth of Rotary experience to our meeting having among
other things served on District committees for the past 15 years. Bill
and Irene have travelled widely and we look forward to our District
Governor’s address.
Last week we learned a little of the art of skywriting form
John O’Grady and the trials and tribulations attached thereto, including
some very unusual messages. John claims 100% success rate in marriage
proposals.
Your Board met last week and had a frank and, I believe,
meaningful discussion on various aspects of our Rotary life, such as fund
raising with some new ideas as well as the true and tested ones
suggested. Our rather less than perfect attendance record was also
address and a suggestion made to try for a little more variety in our
meetings with job talks etc. Not forgetting the important role that
fellowship plays in being a Rotarian.
The Carols by Candlelight in Strathfield Park will be held
on December 10 this year with a similar format to last year. The
committee led by Keith Byrn will be liaising with Strathfield Council.
Again thanks to Peter Foss and his team for their efforts
in promoting the Trivia Quiz on August 12. It is shaping up to be a great
night.
Till next week, enjoy Rotary
