President George's

Wednesday 26 April 2006

At our combined Burwood-Concord- Strathfield meeting tonight we welcome the GSE team from Thailand and hope that they enjoy their evening at Strathfield as I am sure that we will enjoy their company as well as their presentation.

What an interesting talk we had last week from our Mayor, Cl Bill Carney.  Bill was filling in at short notice but gave us an insight into the life of a Barrister- Mayor – Father and very busy man.  Thank you Bill.

In a rapidly changing world Anzac Day is still very special as we pause to remember.  We thank PDG David Croft for arranging Strathfield Rotary’s Commemoration on the Village Green at Cabarita.  It was well attended and very much appreciated with good food and good fellowship.

I have been asked a couple of tomes of late about Strathfield Rotary Club being 100 years old as reported in a local paper.  The article of course referred to our recently completed Centenary Project of the Rotary Grove in Edwards Park.  The Mayor and I received honourable mentions but not Project Co-orindator Peter Foss who did all the work;  such is life.

Ah well; “We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing: Others judge us by what we have done.”    Henry Wordsworth Longfellow.

Until next week

Enjoy Rotary,

                         President George
