PDG Lloyd Roever gave us
all something to think about last week in his talk on Reaching Overseas
Medical Aid for Children. The subject was perhaps somewhat sobering,
but what a great Rotary programme.
The Club BBQ was in action
again on Sunday at the Strathfield Spring Fair.
Later in the day Catherine
asked me if only the girls were doing the Rotary Sausage Sizzle! Well
what a question. Perhaps for a while it looked that way as Shirley,
Connie and Janelle were the ‘front girls’ and what a great job they did,
selling 500 sausages in record time. However the boys were certainly on
the job cooking the onions and sausages to perfection. The end result
was a profit of over $1000. Well done and many thanks to all concerned.
I am sure that Strathfield
Council will be well pleased with this years Spring Fair. There was good
entertainment all day and a very good attendance. Over 80 stalls and a
carnival atmosphere prevailed. Several former Strathfield Rotarians were
in attendance: - Clarrie Edwards and Jean, Rod Rimes and Malcolm Buck
were seen circulating.
Fred Haddon is to have two
hip replacements on the 18th of this month. I am sure we all wish Fred
well and hope to see him back at Rotary before too long.
