Last week the GSE team which
recently returned from Thailand gave our Club an excellent
presentation in summarising their experiences in north east
Thailand. They agreed that they had a wonderful trip and we
agreed they had been wonderful ambassadors.
We were also given much food
for thought. Many things that we take for granted in our everyday
life are not so everywhere. However the impression still shone
through of Thailand being the land of smiles.
Team Leader Paul Erickson
tells me that his Club has frequent partners nights and almost
always one or two partners attend the regular meetings. Are times
changing? I suspect not in Strathfield, as yet, anyway, although
I am sure that partners are always welcome.
It was pleasing that DG Bill
Little and Irene found time to attend the meeting and it proved
fortuitous that Bill was on hand to help in the naming of Keith
Byrn as a PHF.
The weather for the Family of
Rotary picnic day in Bi Centennial Park proved to be quite
reasonable. We had a sheltered spot and the sun was shining.
Catherine said it reminded her of the Sunday School picnics of
yesteryear. The children had a ball with all kinds of races and
an inter Club Tug of War for the grownups.
The Ayres family and the
Hallworths were Strathfield's only representatives though Euan
Watson did pay a visit looking trim, taught and terrific.
