Tonight we give a big Strathfield welcome to PDG Lloyd Roever. Lloyd
brings a great wealth of Rotary expertise with him and we look forward
to his address.
The 39 Strathfield Rotarians who attended last
weeks meeting were fortunate enough to hear Peter Manenti give a wide
ranging talk on his life and the liquor industry in Australia. There is
no one better qualified to speak on the liquor industry than Peter. His
talk was both informative and entertaining. Some of the facts and
figures were quite surprising. I am sure that we would all second Euan
Watson’s vote of thanks.
Jennifer Phillips attended the meeting representing
the Childrens Medical Research Institute. We were pleased to present
Jennifer with a cheque for $3,000.00 which was raised at our recent
trivia Quiz Night. In thanking the Club, Jennifer explained some of the
work of the institute and how the money would be spent.
I attended two meetings at the Town Hall last week,
the first being a community forum at which the Homebush Railway Station
‘Turnback” was discussed along with the projected Strathfield population
increase in future years, which is quite considerable.
The second was a naturalization ceremony where I
had the opportunity to briefly speak on what Rotary was all about.
Until
next week
Enjoy Rotary
