Chit Chat

2 November 2005

Our guest speaker last week, Myra Sgorbini, certainly held our attention with her presentation on organ donation.  Myra gave us some surprising facts and figures and was able to answer questions with great assurance.

Joe Campisi also gave a short presentation on road safety for younger drivers and the follow up that is needed.  A good initiative from Joe.

Strathfield Council are organising a ‘Festival of Cultures’ on Sunday December 4th. We have accepted Councils invitation to participate with the BBQ.

Speaking of Council matters, nominations are open for Australia Day Awards 2006.  These awards recognise and acknowledge outstanding personal achievement, contribution and service to the community in any field.  Senior and Junior nominations are welcome.  Secretary Roger has copies of criteria and nomination forms.  Nominations close 18th November.

Good to see Brian Driver back from his marathon walk across Spain.  “No problem” he tells us.  I am sure we believe that, for us it was no trouble at all.

The recent District Golf Day organized by Ray Wilson raised $2,000.00.  Well done Ray!

Catherine and I are having a few days relaxing in Avoca this week.  I thought I should spell that out in case you had not noticed I was missing!

However I know that Rod is fired up and rarin’ to go.

Until next week

Enjoy Rotary
