Last Week – Club Assembly
We had our second Club Assembly of this Rotary year, last week – at
the half-way point in our year. It was a good opportunity for us to
reflect on what we had planned to do, what we actually have done so
far, and what is left to do. Reminding ourselves of our Club’s
Mission, Vision, Values, Goals and Objectives for the year is very
important, and I was pleased with the feedback and discussion from
all present. What a great Membership we have! What a great Club we
have!
Possibly most important for me is our Club having a collective
belief in our Vision, which is described as follows:
We are the most
modern and vibrant Rotary club in our District, with a large and
active membership made up of all ages, demographics and
vocations. We are recognised and respected for the great service
we provide in our local community, as well as for our
participation in selected global Rotary programs.
This is where we’re heading and what we aspire to
be. Can we be this by July 2018? Maybe. Let’s see.
Indian Cultural Night – Coming Up
Soon!
OK… the BIG Indian Cultural Night is just around the corner – 10th
February 2018. I know that registrations are ‘flooding in’ , and I
believe we are now approaching the 200 guest mark (i.e. we’re at
least over 100!). So, yes… we are a GO. I know that the organising
team has a slew of surprises arranged for the evening. Be sure to
get your Bollywood dancing shoes on and strap in for a fabulous
night of Indian culture, food, fun and festivities. Thanks to
Prabhat at the team for their efforts in making this a successful
event. Our fundraising beneficiary at the event is Australian Rotary
Health, one of our nominated service recipients for this year.
February Board Meeting
Our first Board Meeting for the year is scheduled for 20th February
2018. If you have any items you’d like to put or present to the
Board, please advise Secretary Rod ASAP, as we’re assembling the
agenda right now. As usual, all are welcome to attend as our guests.
We will be meeting at the Crossways Hotel at 6:30pm for 7:00pm,
dining before the meeting. One of the tasks we’ll complete at this
meeting is our mid-point Club Health Check– to see if we’re making
progress in becoming ‘the best Club in our District’, and determine
what we need to focus on for the remainder of the year to hit our
goals.
District Conference – Also Coming
Up Soon!
Coming up quickly on 2-4 March 2018 is our District Conference at
Mudgee. I attended my first District Conference last year, and was
genuinely and pleasantly surprised at the quality, professionalism
and value that it brought me; it was really good! If you think this
is just going to be another boring Rotary blah-blah-blah style
get-together, think again. Do come along if you can. There are
wineries up there too!
New Members
Great news on the Membership Development front. You will soon see
several new member nomination proposals coming via email from
Secretary Rod, hopefully followed by a wonderful Induction
Celebration at a February or March meeting. It’s great to see
renewed interest in joining our Club. My personal thanks to all
those Members involved in cultivating our new membership, especially
Gulian and Arie.
Next Week – No Meeting
Just a reminder, as we are transferring to the Indian Cultural Night
on 10th February 2018, there will be no Club Meeting on 7th February
2018. And also, there is no Club Meeting on the following Wednesday,
14th February 2018. This is Valentine’s Day. Please take the evening
off and spend it with your special loved one that night.
