President’s Report

Last Week - avoiding coronary
heart disease
What a great message and reminder to us all last week, that the
chances of us suffering coronary heart disease is largely in our
hands (holding burgers, beers and burritos will not help!). Thanks
once again to Alan Heighway for his simple and easy to understand
presentation. Now, everyone... off the couch and around the block
for a walk, followed by a bowl of salad for dinner!
Our two newest members!
I just want to quickly acknowledge and thank our two newest
(inducted) members of the Club - Roy Ellis and Dimitry Palmer. We
really are pushing either end of our age spectrum with these latest
recruits, which is great! We are clearly appealing to all ages, and
I'm very excited to have both these fine gentlemen as members of our
Club. Welcome aboard to both of you!
New Rotary Member Training - Roy
Ellis
And following on from Roy's recent induction, he has promptly taken
himself to Rotary New Member Training last weekend. Thanks for
making the effort Roy, and getting along to this event. Much
appreciated. Other new members... new dates will be posted for you
to attend also; stay tuned.
Next Week - our last night at the
Club
Do make the effort to come along next week; it's the last time we
will ever meet in this clubhouse. It's a social occasion and a
partner's night, with a BBQ dinner. Let's send our old meeting place
off in style before the wrecking ball hits.
The Great Debate - tonight
The great tradition continues! Tonight we welcome the debating
warriors from Santa Sabina College and Meriden School as they do
battle for the annual Maurie Moroney Memorial Shield. Welcome to our
Club, ladies. Good luck with the debate; we look forward to hearing
compelling arguments, both ways. May the best team win.
