Last Few Weeks
Welcome back!
Well, we’ve been away from our regular meeting cadence in the last
month or so, with the Catherine Sullivan Centre Ball Transfer, a
Transfer Meeting to Five Dock Club, and ANZAC Day last week. We’re
back at Massey Park now for most of the rest of this Rotary Year, so
our routine can return to normal. I hope to see many of you here
tonight for what promises to be an interesting guest speaker talk.
District Assembly
I attended the District Assembly on Saturday with several fellow
Strathfield Rotarians: PE Charles, Secretary Rod, and in-coming
Directors Peter VdS and Usha. The day again was very informative
across many topics, and a great opportunity to network with other
Rotarians across the District. Perhaps PE Charles can give us a
small debrief tonight? Charles…?
Rick’s Run for Chalmers Road
School
OK, this is it! Our last service project / fundraiser for this
Rotary Year – Rick’s Run for Chalmers Road School. You have all been
wonderfully generous with all our service projects and activities
this year. I believe we have really been a great service partner to
those organisations we have committed to working with. We will
review this perhaps in more detail at our Changeover. In the
meantime, wish me luck in the run; it’s this Sunday on the enormous
hills of Hamilton Island (they will seem enormous in the second half
of the run!).

On the Home Stretch Now!
So, just two months left in this Rotary Year. It’s gone so fast (for
me at least). But… we’re not done yet. There are still some great
weeks ahead of us, with fabulous speakers, a return visit planned to
the Ryde College of TAFE Training Restaurant, and the long-awaited Ghost Tour of Old Government House.
Hasn’t PP Raymond done a sterling job with Programs this year! We’ve
all be very fortunate to have him work the program so diligently,
and without a hitch. Thanks Raymond! Much appreciated.
Changeover
PE Charles, Club Director Brad, and I are working through dates and
venues for this as we speak. More details to come as they arise;
hopefully very soon.
This Week
I’m looking forward to tonight’s talk from Lynda Ben-Menashe on The
Jewish Experience in Australia. Personally, I haven’t really had
much of a ‘Jewish experience’ in my life here. I have attended a
Jewish wedding, and do have some Jewish acquaintances that I see
occasionally, but that’s about it. I’m sure Lynda’s story will be
both interesting and entertaining!
